| Do you want to make some green juice but don’t have a juicer? Are you unsure if green juice is for you and want to try it out before you invest in a juicer? Do you hate wasting money and want to make green juice as inexpensively as possible? If so, this article is for you! Here’s how to make green juice as cheaply as possible and without a juicer. |
What you need
-blender
-pitcher
-knife & cutting board
-2 Ball jars
-paint strainer bag (or milk nut bag if you’re fancy)
-big bowl (not necessary, but helpful) |

Gather your plants
This is just one example, but it’s a pretty good starting point and definetely my go-to “mean green” green juice. This will make 2 Ball jars worth of juice, so cut the proportions in half if you want just 1 serving:
-1 cucumber
-4 celery stalks
-1/2 a lemon
-2 green apples
-6 kale leaves |
Preparation
First, wash everything.
Then, rip the leaves off from the kale stem. |
Chop (or tear) the kale leaves into smallish peaces.(The crappier your blender is the smaller you should try to make your fruit and veggie pieces.) |
Cut the rind and white part off of your half lemon |
Chop the ends off the cucumbers and celery, core the apples.(Apple seeds can contain trace amounts of cyanide and generally don’t taste very good, so try to cut them out as best you can.) |
Dice everything into 1 inch or so pieces.(You can use bigger pieces if your blender is beastly.) |
Add 1/2 of a cup of water to your blender(This just makes the blending process easier. If you find your juice is too thick or would like to sweeten it up, you can also add apple or orange juice.) |
Blend vigorously.(Keep blending on the highest setting until the goop looks uniform and you don’t see any more pieces.) |
Put your paint strainer bag around your pitcher.(You can use a milk nut bag from a health food store, but they’re both made of nylon and paint strainers cost significantly less. |
Pour the goop into the pitcher through the strainer.(Hold the strainer bag against the pitcher if necessary.) |
Rinse the blender with a trickle of water to wash the rest of the goop off the sides and add that to the pitcher. |
Tie the strainer bag in a knot or wrap a rubber band around the top.(This prevents it from spilling out if you accidently drop it. You can skip this step if you’re really that lazy.) |
Squeeze the bag, forcing the juice into the pitcher.(Start from the top of the bag and squeeze downwards until the goop inside feels dry or no more juice can be squeezed out.) |
You know have a pitcher of green juice!(You can save the kale stems, lemon rind, celery and cucumber ends, apple cores, and the dried out goop from the strainer bag for use in composting, if you’re into that kind of thing.) |
Pour the green juice into the Ball jars and you’re done!(It’s best fresh, but also saves fairly well in the refridgerator. Serve ice if you like it chilled, though it will already be pretty cold if you keep your fruits and veggies in the fridge.) |

Clean Up
Clean up is a breeze as long as you don’t wait too long.Just rinse everything off and set it out to dry.
Turn the strainer bag inside-out and rinse it under the sink then hang it up somewhere. |
Easy piezy. Cheap green juice with no juicer needed, enjoy!
